We've tried to be quite real about our experiences of running a small business during our time in the fishbowl. There have been many highs and lows over the months, often several on the same day!
Lots happening in the office today. Sion is busy setting up client databases, Nicole has ongoing project work, Bea is dealing with finance, and I have set aside most of the day, as we are having our ISO9001 certification audit. There is a great atmosphere in the office, and lots to do, but behind the scenes Bea and I are asking ourselves some tough questions.
I'm busy reviewing quality assurance policies and processes ahead of our ISO certification audit next week. Its riveting stuff! The stated aim of our selected consultants was to build a customised system tailored to our needs, despite lots of guarantees, and a lot of work selecting them, it hasn't been a great experience. So what went wrong, and are there lessons for when selecting suppliers?
Had some disappointing news this week, failing to win a major piece of work in a new area with an existing client. It was especially disappointing because we came very close, had glowing recommendation from other parts of the business, and were pitching in an area of specialism.
